Yesterday Sacha Lord was very kind to come for a meeting at Barbakan HQ. It was refreshing to speak openly together about the frustrations we both felt with the tax burdens in the hospitality sector.
Sacha has hope that Andy Burnham has our best interests at heart, and with time, we will start to see relief.
I’m more of a ‘I’ll-believe-it-when-I-see-it’ kinda gal.
Nevertheless, certain plans have been drawn up and it’s good to have a friend up top. He’s taken my letter (which I updated to include a cross-example of nationwide business owners pleas you can find in the comments on my original letter on Instagram) and has promised to place it in the hands of our PM on the 15th October.
I’ve also still pushed hard for a meeting with the PM myself. Advisors with grass-roots experience of independent businesses is what’s vitally missing in this current government.
I also conveyed that as an industry, we are feeling very much ignored in the current state of play.
If the gov. takes care of businesses, we’ll take care of the economy.
