Stalybridge Old Band performing at The Wharf's 74th Anniversary celebrations. The encore song was "It's a Long Way to Tipperary"; a fitting choice having been first penned by Jack Judge while he was staying and performing in the town in 1912. Written in only one night on the back of a 5-shilling bet that Judge couldn't write a new song in time for the next night's performance! He pulled it off and the song was an instant success. Judge later sold the rights to the song, but the rest, as they say, is history.
