Only three miles from the bustling small North Yorkshire town of Malton it is well worth turning off the B1257 to head for the little village of Amotherby. A pleasant enough place you might think but why take the detour when the heady delights of resorts such as Scarborough are calling? The answer is to be found at The Queen's Head, not just an excellent Free House but incorporating one of the region's favourite and authentic Cantonese restaurants in surely one of the country's "greenest" catering establishments! Let's start with a drink after the journey and in the bar you will find an excellent selection of wines, spirits, la**rs, c***r and soft drinks with a talking point on the lips of both drinkers and those travelling from throughout the region for a meal being The Queen's Head's three exceptionally well kept real ales- a Copper Dragon brew and a rotating guest ale. During the summer months there is a delightful b**r garden outside with adjoining gazebo and a really good quality, floodlit children's play area. Whilst enjoying your drink you could be forgiven for wondering why in this admittedly very pleasant backwater many of the other people in the bar are waiting for their table at The Queen's Head's authentic Cantonese restaurant, renowned for miles around. On booking a table and taking your seat in the restaurant the answer becomes immediately apparent! This is a very comfortable and authentic Cantonese restaurant with a capacity of around 80, it is ideal for both the party booking or with the bamboo partition screens in place a perfect setting for an intimate meal for two. Open every day between 5.00pm and 11.00pm the restaurant's three qualified chefs use the freshest locally sourced ingredients to create the finest Cantonese cuisine imaginable. Such is the reputation that booking is advised and, at weekends, required in order to enjoy an unbeatable menu choice in the comfortable surroundings of this refurbished restaurant. So how much more unusual can The Queen's Head become! Well it has a large and necessary car park in addition to disabled facilities throughout the building but also The Queen's Head surely has to be one of the country's "greenest" catering establishments utilising with enthusiasm solar panels, water saving flushing systems, a waste heat drying room, compressed air b**r pumps, low energy lighting, passive infra red detectors in the toilet areas and geothermic heating throughout. So, you will agree, that detour just off the B1257 was incredibly well worth while.

We have finally added a salt and pepper box to our takeaway menus! This includes chicken pieces, chips, chicken balls, chicken wings and mini vegetable spring rolls all stir fried with our salt and pepper mix. With your choice of side (rice or noodles) and your choice of sauce all for £18!
