Andrew Jenner..Public apology to Mr Phil Adkins on behalf of my staff member.

Mr Phil Adkins has posted some remarks that we don’t agree with but has every right to do so, he believes that the comments he has made are true and correct, as is his right.

He has asked for my member of staff to take back the comments “friend of the council” “a Puppet having his strings pulled and “that he is not a friend of the council” Also that we have set up a live Gofundme page after it was said we had not.

We do not have a live Gofundme page. The page was set up by a staff member after customers asked how they could help us raise funds for the court case, but it has never been live , if you click on it nothing happens.
My staff member retracts these other comments unconditionally and apologies to Mr Adkins for any harm caused to him or his website

Andrew Jenner.
A plea to all our supporters and those against, please reframe from using names or websites of any individual or company. Everyone has a right to an opinion, even though you may not agree with it.
Sometimes, I think FB comments bring out the worst in us.

For clarification.
The council has every right to refuse renewing my lease if they believe that by building a new café and toilets they can commercially make more money.

I hold no animosity against any councillors or council officers, I might not agree with them but they are just doing their job.

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received, but also understand that there are some people that don’t support us for whatever reason, as is their right to do so.

Some members of my staff have been verbally abused, by members of the public believing they don’t have to pay for parking because of comments made on FB . Although we don’t charge all the time, you do have to pay for parking the council set and agree the amount with us.

Just a few points of clarification in response to the councils’ remarks last week.

It’s very difficult to negotiate with the council when we received the letter on the 17th Dec 2025 from the RBWM solicitors, saying they would not be renewing the lease under section (f) the redevelopment clause and that they have served notice on us. (How could we negotiate with that).

We did try though; we sent them an e-mail in early in January asking the council to reconsider and gave them options.

These included taking the carpark back from us plus the moorings plus the putting green. This way they could take all the revenue from these facility’s without spending a penny.

We also gave them the choice of purchasing the café building from us and running it themselves so that my staff wouldn’t lose their jobs.

They didn’t even have the curtesy to respond to that e-mail.

I had a meeting with Simon Werner (Leader of the council) last year during which he explained that the RBWM had to borrow £100million pounds 2025 from the government to keep afloat. And as of Feb, this year they borrow another £53 million pounds.

Why then would you look at spending between £500 thousand to 1 million pounds plus, building a new café etc? I’m sure the council has much bigger priorities to spend rate payer money on.

They put in the paper they could rebuild and have accessible toilets? “ At some point” what does that even mean at some point

We have a disabled ramp for wheelchairs and prams, a disabled toilet with baby a changing facility, and male and female toilets.

When he says “it’s not about who runs it” what a load of b # . He has obviously never run a business and can’t understand all the good will (over sixty years) that goes into building up customer relationships.

Our café is run by a family for families like most small businesses, not like some big chain companies that change employees weekly.

My staff have worked for me for years building that customer trust and rapport, that takes years.

In my opinion this seems, more about scoring political points. What’s funny, the only support has come from the Reform party.

Once again, I just wanted to thank you for all your support,
and my amazing Staff
Also
Andrew Hill from "The
Borough first "
Has been a great help and supporter concerning this
Issue.

How many ways can we say, "thank you" If we knew, we would use them all.

We cannot put into words adequately our gratitude. The support has been overwhelming. (let's hope the council listens). The signatures on the petition at the moment stands at around 3,500 " that's amazing after only one week".

Some of your stories have bought a tear to my eye and smile to my face, I'm sure that would be the same for Nan and Grandad Jenner.

Once again, I/we thank you so much for all your support. We won't give up the fight to keep Jenner's open.

Please keep the pressure on your elected members, because that's the only way we can win.

Thank you.

Andrew Jenner
