💚 Community Fridge AGM💚
Most of our volunteers came together last night to look back at what we’ve achieved and talk about the future.
The Magor & Undy Community Fridge has now been up and running since May 2023, but the work actually started a year earlier, in May 2022. There was a huge amount to put in place before we could open the doors: paperwork, compliance, training, forming a committee, finding the right home, securing grants and, most importantly, bringing together a brilliant group of volunteers.
We’re so grateful to Magor Baptist Church for giving us such a welcoming home, and to Monmouthshire County Council for grant support, including funding for the white goods that helped us get started. Monmouthshire Housing (MHA) have also supported us with grants along the way.
More than four years on from those first planning conversations, we really hope the Fridge now feels firmly embedded in our community, reducing food waste, helping stretch household budgets and bringing people together on a Friday morning.
We couldn’t exist without the support of all our contributors, local businesses, supermarkets, local growers and residents who drop nappies, baby formula and random good stuff! Please continue-we love it.
