Lake Update 🚒
We’re still waiting for official confirmation regarding algal blooms. However, based on what we can see, our oxygen level checks, and our experience, we strongly suspect blooms may still be present.
For this reason, we are continuing to advise against water sports at this time. We will not be hiring out SUP boards, kayaks, canoes or rowing boats, and day paddle permits will not be available.
Motorboats and pedalos remain available daily until the end of the summer holidays.
Unfortunately, the prolonged warm weather, lack of rain and possible blooms have led to very low oxygen levels in the water, which may cause fish to come to the surface.
The weather is expected to change soon, which should help improve the situation. In the meantime, St Annes Fire Station have kindly offered to pump water into the lake to help aerate it, so please don’t be alarmed if you see fire engines in the park.
This is a changing situation and is being reviewed daily. Much of it is outside our control, but we hope it will resolve naturally soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
