One year ago today marks the day our world turned upside down.
The fire at the café was one of the most devastating and heartbreaking moments we’ve ever faced.
Walking away that day, not knowing what had caused it, was the worst feeling.
In the days that followed, we learned it was a faulty fridge — something that has to be left on all the time and you’d never think would cause something like that.
We had spent 20 years building our little business. Twenty years of, long days, family sacrifices, laughter, friendships, and slowly growing something we’re so proud of. And in a matter of hours, we were faced with the reality that we would have to build it all back up again.
Over the past two decades, we’ve weathered more than a few storms — a recession, our butty run vehicle being written off by an uninsured drunk driver, and then COVID. Each time, we got up, brushed ourselves down, and carried on. Because this family business isn’t just what we do — it’s what we love.
This past year has brought more hurdles than we ever imagined. As you all know, things never quite go to plan, and there’s still a long road ahead to make sure we put everything back exactly as it should be. We want the café to be right — fully ready to welcome back all of our wonderful customers that we miss so very much.
Hopefully soon we’ll be able to release an opening date and finally share some good news with you all.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and kindness. It truly means everything to us. We can’t wait for the day we open our doors again and see your familiar faces back where they belong.
Here’s to rebuilding, to resilience, and to coming back stronger than ever 🤍
