We have now filled our position for a Saturday pot washer that we advertised for yesterday so have deleted the post to try and reduce messages coming in.

I had so many messages and I just want to thank everyone that applied as well as parents, grandparents and family members that applied on behalf of their young relatives too. I found yesterday a really sad day to be honest to read so many messages of young people desperate for a first job with so few opportunities available. I cant help but think that this is a result of traditional small businesses like shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and social clubs shutting down and simply being unable to function and employ people. Hopefully things can improve for us all and there's a focus on regenerating our high streets and particularly helping the Hospitality Industry to get back on it's feet.

I'm sorry if i didnt get back to anyone personally but I will keep everyone's messages and CV's on file in my inbox for any future vacancies that arise.

Don't mind me, I'm just desperately trying to keep the summer vibes going and refusing to contemplate Autumn in anyway, shape or form.

Our new special is a take on our best seller - the club sandwich - but given a Greek make over. Bacon, Gyros flavoured chicken, halloumi, lettuce, tomatoes and garlic mayo on 3 layers of toast with a handful of oregano seasoned fries. Customer requested brown bread for this one.

Baked something different last night - 'Galatopita' - a traditional Greek milk pie, similar to an egg custard but made with semolina flour, cinnamon and lemon. It's on the counter today and would be a nice companion to our coffees.

Well, what a fantastic summer we've had at Harlay's. The great weather kept us very busy over the summer holidays with many of you enjoying our outdoor seating, visiting with family and popping in on Sundays for amazing pastries. It really was great to see so many people coming by, it's appreciated more than I can put into words here, thank you all.

It was also a very difficult few weeks for me and our holiday came at exactly the right time I'll be honest. It's been a long time since I've had 2 weeks off but it gave me a chance to rest, reset and re-charge myself.

So as we move into Autumn and gear up for what is usually our busiest period of the year I look forward to it with renewed energy and will continue to deliver the quality and consistency you all deserve. Wishing the best of luck to everyone going back to school, starting college or Uni or new beginnings, hopefully it'll be spring before we know it!

All good things must come to an end and after 2 amazing weeks travelling around the Sporades Islands it's time for me to get back to work.

Harlay's is back open tomorrow at 9am, looking forward to welcoming everyone back 😀
