It is with great sadness I have closed the doors of the Mansion House today for the very last time. Like many other businesses, we are not immune to the spiralling running costs. Our rateable value is set to rise again this year by £3500.00, taking us up to £27.500.00 per year. Not bad considering it was only £7500.00 annually prior to it becoming a restaurant. The gas and electric are ridiculous, especially with eighteen foot high ceilings. So, having saved this once dilapidated building and created what has become a very popular venue in the town, it has been a very tough decision to close. Obviously I am devastated for my loyal staff, Simon, Sarah, Sharon and Victoria to name but a few, who have helped me make it what it is today. Thank you to all our customers for all the support, which has been so greatly appreciated.
