Last night, we attended the Looe Business Awards, organised by Looe and Liskeard Radio and frequented by all the great businesses of Looe… and we were in for a pretty big surprise.

After a great introduction by Mike Allsopp the Awards began to flow.

It was a little surprising when we got to the Best Pub/Bar award and The Jolly Sailor was announced as the winner of this category… and we were up against some strong names!

But, as the penultimate category “Looe Local Favourite” was introduced, and the announcement came through the speakers, our minds did a little…
“I’msorrywhat? Can you repeat the answer please?
You said, Th…The… Jolly Sailor? Right?!”

So, today, we sit here, proud as punch, with one award for Best Pub/Bar and one for Looe Local Favourite.

How humbled are we?

These awards aren’t just a reflection of how hard we have worked to build our business up.

They aren’t just about the things we are involved in such as the May Fayre and our own Music festival (that started at the tail end of Looe Live so we could give something back to the local community).

It is about Zoë who works tirelessly to make Looe safe, and great, with things such as working with Local and Cornwall Council, Police and Licencing matters, UKPAC and chairing the town’s PubWatch.

We wouldn’t be where we are without our staff and friends, who are like an extension of our family - and, of course, our parents, two sons (and the two dogs). They have our backs, and we have theirs. Thank you to you all, you lovely people!

It’s also about our locals, visitors and guests who support us throughout the year - the ones who enter as strangers and leave as friends.

And without the votes from all of these amazing people, we wouldn’t be where we are this morning!

Between us all, we have made The Jolly Sailor Inn a genuine, Multi Award Winning Pub.

Thank you, every single one of you.

🥰The Jolly

Just superb!
If I could give the Jolly Sailor 6 instead of 5 I would. We had a wonderful six day stay here and loved every minute. We had room 2 which is large and comfortable with views of the harbour. The food was lovely especially the breakfasts. We enjoyed Monday pizza and quiz night and also Thursday shanty night which great fun. It is essential to book a table for Thursday night as it is really popular.
The rooms are very clean and well equipped and the whole place has a lovely ambiance.
All the staff here are exceptionally welcoming and hard working, especially the owners , Gary and Zoe. Nothing is too much trouble. It was a special stay for us celebrating our golden wedding anniversary and they had put a card in our room which we thought was a lovely gesture.
I am sure we will return to stay at the Jolly Sailor again for the fourth time , it is a real favourite with us.
