What a day at The Plough! 😊

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our Great British Summer BBQ today. More than 200 of you came through our doors and into the garden, and it was wonderful to see The Plough so full of people enjoying themselves.

The weather was very kind to us too – apart from two little showers! ☀️😊

Six huge venison haunches went over the fire, along with plenty of burgers, sausages and halloumi, and somehow we managed to sell out just as the BBQ was coming to an end. We couldn’t have timed it better! 🍖👏

A very special thank you to our guest chef Joe. It was an absolute pleasure having you cooking with us. I loved being able to watch you at work, learn from you and follow your lead around the fire. Thank you for bringing something really special to The Plough for the day.

And a massive thank you to our Head Chef Billy, who kept the kitchen and the whole team running like clockwork throughout an incredibly busy service. 👏

🎶 A big thank you to Zaylee too for another fantastic live performance and for creating such a brilliant atmosphere in the garden. The music really helped make the afternoon feel special.

To our kitchen and FOH teams – thank you. You all worked incredibly hard, kept smiling, most importantly, made everyone who joined us feel welcome and at home.

And finally, thank you to all of YOU who came along, supported us, ate, drank, listened to the music and enjoyed the afternoon with us. Days like this are exactly what a community pub should be about ❤️

🇬🇧 THE GREAT BRITISH SUMMER BBQ 🇬🇧

The weather is looking good, the venison is getting ready, and we’re all set for a fantastic Bank Holiday Monday at The Plough! ☀️🍻

We’re already looking very busy, but there’s still room to come and join us – and we’ve added a couple of extras for tomorrow! 😊

🍖 LONGPARISH VENISON OVER THE FIRE

Our locally sourced Longparish venison from the Middleton Estate is marinated for 24 hours with garlic, ginger and aromatic spices before being slowly cooked over the open fire and carved fresh.

Guest Chef Joe will be joining our Head Chef Billy, myself and The Plough kitchen team around the BBQ for the day.

And, of course, we’ll have all the BBQ favourites too:

🍔 British beef burgers
🌭 Butcher’s sausages
🧀 Grilled halloumi burgers
🥗 Unlimited salad bar

🍖 BBQ just £16 per person
🍔 Kids’ BBQ meals £7

Later in the afternoon, we’ll be serving chargrilled pineapple straight from the fire, flambéed with rum and served warm with vanilla ice cream. 🍍🥃🍨

We’re getting the BBQs ready for a very special Bank Holiday Monday at The Plough! ☀️🍻

And this time, we’re doing something a little different…

I’m delighted to welcome my good friend Joe, an American chef joining us as our special guest for the day. Joe and I have been friends for many years, and for this special Bank Holiday he’ll be joining our Head Chef Billy, myself and The Plough kitchen team around the BBQ – bringing together a proper British summer BBQ with a little open-fire cooking influence. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

THE STAR OF THE DAY – LONGPARISH VENISON FROM THE MIDDLETON ESTATATE COOKED OVER THE FIRE 🔥

The venison haunches will be marinated for 24 hours with garlic, ginger and aromatic spices, then slowly cooked over the fire and carved fresh.

Served with:

Mustard & thyme roasted new potatoes
Celeriac & beetroot slaw
Our house green sauce
Crispy fried capers & crispy onions

And if venison isn’t your thing, we’ll have all the proper BBQ favourites too:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 STARS AGAIN!

We’re delighted to have once again achieved a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating from the EHO - a standard we’ve now maintained every year since reopening under community ownership. 🎉

That consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It takes the whole team pulling together, every single day.

Huge thanks to our Head Chef, Billy, for taking ownership of it all and keeping everything running to the standard we expect. And to Deepak, our Sous Chef, for his constant support in making sure things stay on track.

Thanks too to Thomas for his hard work and dedication in the kitchen, and to Orest and Jinu for their tireless efforts keeping things spotless.

And to all our part-time team members who muck in wherever needed — especially on the washing up! 🙌
