We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of our Head Hall Porter and dear colleague, Michael De Cozar.

Michael was a cherished member of the Hall Porter team and dedicated 53 years of his life to The Ritz London. Throughout his remarkable career, he became a much-loved and familiar face to generations of colleagues and guests alike.

We are profoundly grateful for Michael’s dedication, loyalty, and exceptional service to The Ritz. His warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him, as well as by our many guests who knew and loved him.

Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Woven in Scotland by Johnstons of Elgin, created exclusively for The Ritz London, the Ritz cashmere blanket is a celebration of two houses united by tradition.

From the flowing River Lossie, which shapes the softness of each fibre, to the storied Elgin mill where time honoured techniques endure, every thread carries over two centuries of expertise. Since 1797, Johnstons of Elgin have defined the art of woven textiles, with historic ties to Scotland’s great estates, including Balmoral Castle.

Now found nestled within The Secret Garden, the blanket is an understated yet luxurious detail woven into the garden experience.
