With a new lease of life, paired with honest pub grub and fantastic, Hertfordshire brewed beers. Our pub resides in the old Law Court’s branch of the previous Bank of England which operated from 1888 to 1975, although you may not be able to get a loan with us, you are bound to receive attentive service, and a unique experience in the country’s capital. The location is also famously directly between Sweeney Todd’s barber shop and Mrs Lovett’s pie shop! Our vintage Routemaster Bus is available for private hire, a truly unique experience in the heart of Fleet Street.

Here’s why there’s a barber’s chair in our snug at the Old Bank of England, on Fleet Street.

It’s the Demon Barber of Fleet Street - Sweeney Todd. The legend began in a 1846 ‘penny dreadful’ called ‘The String of Pearls’ - a barber with a razor, a baker in the room below, a story that has travelled from Victorian theatre to a famous 1979 musical and a 2003 film. (The pie part, you’ll know.)

👻 Halloween in a former Bank of England, Fleet Street.

Few places are spookier than drinking inside a 19th century bank - chandeliers, marble columns, the old vaults, and the ghost stories that go all the way back to 1888.

This Halloween, the Old Bank of England is the place to gather in central London, whether with friends, family, or a corporate booking. Come for the Halloween drinks, stay and drink in a museum.

Our Halloween drinks run 16/10 to 1/11. Book in advance or arrive early, especially on a Friday or Saturday - we get busy. See you in the vaults.

While they may not want to dance on camera, the staff at our pub are the backbone of the Old Bank. Friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile.
