MEET THE TEAM 💫

Fireman Dave. What can we say? Our courageous Front Of House Manager takes a lot in his stride. From Flat Whites to Fire Marshalling, Cappuccino’s to community care he’s got it all covered, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have such an empathetic and dedicated member of the team directing our frontline. He lives and breaths logistics Dave does, and the proof is often in the pudding (or one of our delicious sausage rolls). 🔥

A talented graphic designer and (as I’ve recently found out) certified space nerd, he spends his time tending his growing houseplant collection, chilling with his cat Angela, and can often be found making friends with litterally every dog that visits the cafe .

It’s not easy being in charge of such a motley crew of baristas and we salute him for his monumental efforts over the last few years 🫡 As Dave often says: “I paid the cost to be the boss”. And he has. Thanks Dave. We love you. 🥰

Raphael Attar AKA RAFFFFFF marks his triumphant return to the rap game with a new album about trying to get by. He’ll play all the new songs, and a couple of old ones. There will be a DJ, and a warm-up act, and various wind instruments. 💨

THURSDAY: Craft Night & Happy Hour! 🍻

Collage club is in the cafe this Thursday as usual alongside our new monthly “Craft Collective” writers workshop! These are accountability sessions aimed at helping you keep your script on track whilst also providing you with a supportive network of other writers to chat to about workflow and the experience of script writing!🫡 ✍️ get down from 6:30 for collage ⏰ and 7 for craft collective. 🕰️

Happy hour is now from 5pm and lasts all night! Lager/Cider and medium House w**e is £10 for two! Bottle of w**e for £20! 🍷

Dave Johnson/ David Johnson brings his exhibition of comical embroidery pieces to end end this Sunday with a chance to meet the artist! Get down from 2pm to catch these unique textile illustrations one last time at the cafe! 🎨

Our street ❤️ Huge thanks to everyone who came down to the party on Saturday. Absolute corker. Best one yet I reckon. Big shout out to our incredible DJs who kept things going all day and to our Blues Band who killed it inside later on. Love you all.

Fran the Quiz Man is back in the cafe this week pushing the boundaries of general knowledge - experimenting with the form of the traditional pub quiz and breaking down the oppressive barriers of tradition. Quiz starts at 8 and is £1 entry. There’s prizes to be won! ⚡️ Get down for a cheap drink before too! Happy Hour now starts from 5 o’clock and runs all night till close! It’s £10 for 2 beers (lager/cider/0%) and £20 for a bottle of House Red or House White! 🍷

After a daring a death-defying climb up a tree from our brave hero Fireman Dave 🧑‍🚒 We can now confirm that the baby squirrels we found outside the cafe after they fell out of a tree have been returned to their rightful place. 🐿️ Check out how sweet they are!

MEET THE TEAM!

Less of a meet this month and more of a (hopefully temporary) goodbye 👋.

This is Phoebe! She’s been working with us for 2 and a half years and in that time has cemented herself as a legend of the game. A HSC goth Icon. You’ll know her from her bar shifts pouring pints, exceptional music taste (she has an Elliot Smith tattoo) and great style! Phoebe’s in her third year of studying Fine Art at UCL Slade and is taking a year abroad in China to study Calligraphy and seal carving (the ancient art form, not the brutalising of cute aquatic animals). Phoebe and the cafe go way back; she’s been coming here since she was just a baby and remembers buying a monkey sock puppet at The Hill Trader many moons ago 🥺. I have it on good authority that she’ll miss all the people she’s met, the friends she’s made and hopes to come back after her year abroad to continue working at the Hill Station! We’ll certainly miss her until then, so please join us in showing Phoebe some love and wishing her good luck for her long trip! ✨❤️
