2016 — our turn for the trend 🙂
This was still the very beginning. Seb had just quit his job as head chef at a famous gastropub to join Cheeky full-time, and we honestly had no idea where we were going. We had a four-year-old son who we often offloaded onto our wonderful friends on weekends so we could work the markets.
Joyful beginnings.
One gazebo. One fryer. One griddle.
And an unstoppable hunger to succeed — that part was certain.
We won Best Burger at the Street Food Awards that year, dipped our toes into events (both private and large-scale), and started dreaming big. We went to Glastonbury as punters and literally manifested that one day we’d trade there 😂 (we had two units there last year).
It was different then — more innocent, less corporate. Pure beginnings. Pure fun.
These photos are a reminder that without the strong support of our London family, the industry people who believed in us from the start, and a team of exceptional individuals — alongside our sheer steel determination — we would never have survived to see 2026. #2016
