Only a day late but happy valentines weekend everybody!! 💝

I have walked past this spot so many times, excited for something new to open up here, and now I finally have Queenstown Social!! ☕️ I wanted to share this for my latest ‘Fresh Grounds’ update! ✨

I went to have a late brunch at Queenstown Social yesterday, on their second (super busy) day. Walking in, I loved what they have done to the space; the colours and interior look amazing! It has a cute “home away from home” atmosphere with exposed brickwork, and there is plenty of seating for a lovely brunch with friends, parents, a date, the family, or anyone! 🥑

They also have some lovely pavement seating - perfect for a bit of people-watching or if you’re stopping by with your dog on the way to the park! 🐾

Everyone was super friendly and I was lucky to get a table – it was super busy in the morning and at midday! I ordered a latte as usual, and the latte art, the mug, and the taste… it was all so good!!
They use Uniform Coffee that are roasted in Bermondsey, so just around the corner! In the future, they are even going to sell beans! But baby steps – I mean, they literally just opened. 🫶🏻

The food was very nice as well; I got the avocado toast with dukkah, which is such a good combination and served with a lot of care! The eggs on toast also looked delicious - I didn’t have them this time, but they are definitely on my list.
They also offer bread and 🥐baked goods 🥐 to take away, so they really have a bit of everything!

I can already tell this is going to be a great spot for a coffee crawl to fuel up for locals before heading to Battersea Park, Clapham Common, or Clapham Junction - it’s in a great location!! 📍

Well, I finally gave latte art a go a while back, and I am now sharing my miserable first attempts (it did get way better, I promiseeee!), but on that first day, I immediately realised I had absolutely no clue what I was doing - clearly! 😅
My milk wasn’t textured, the espresso looked a bit sad, and that pour? Turned into an abstract “shape” I definitely couldn’t name! 😭 You can see the little bubbles and the slightly separated layers there, bless it. But you know what? I tried, and I’ll definitely be trying again. This journey has properly begun! 🫶🏼

tfw you walk away from something and immediately regret it? That happened to me in nyc! 😩 I found The World Atlas of Coffee by James Hoffmann, second edition, in a coffee shop and.. I didn’t get it. I have regrets..!

It looked really insightful, and I’d love to learn from actual books rather than just the internet! But at the end of the day, my suitcase had a weight limit that quite literally didn’t allow me to buy this book 🥲

Does anyone out there have it? If so, I’d genuinely love to know what you think of it. I’m curious if I’ve missed out on something special before I decide whether to go back for it (or just order it online, let’s be honest!).

Welcome back to Roast Review! Today’s coffee brings a little piece of home into my cup - we’re talking about M.A.G. Coffee’s Tommy’s Mischung. For those who don’t know, M.A.G. is a German coffee roastery from the area where I grew up in Franconia, so it’s extra special to feature them here!!

🤌🏼 The Blend: This is “Tommy’s Mischung”, a carefully crafted blend from the M.A.G. roastery. It’s made with 100% Arabica roasted coffee – always a good sign for a quality coffee.

🫶🏼Flavour Profile (Die Noten!): This blend is described as vollmündig (full-bodied) and mittelkräftig (medium-strength / robust), and it absolutely delivers on those promises. The flavour notes are a great combination of classic chocolate and sweet caramel, perfectly balanced with a bright, zesty hint of orange. It’s a comforting yet vibrant profile.

🫶🏼Origin & Process: While the specific origin of the beans isn’t detailed for this blend, it comes from a trusted local roastery, M.A.G. Rösterei, which holds a special place in my heart from now on.

🫶🏼Overall Opinion: In short: very yummy! (Sehr lecker!) This blend is incredibly satisfying and comforting. It just nails that perfect balance of richness and brightness. A huge thank you to M.A.G. Rösterei for consistently producing such fantastic coffee!

Better late than never! I went to the opening for Beachy Beans in Wandsworth a few weeks ago and completely forgot to post about it!
Shocking, considering that the beach and artsy vibe is right up my street!

My little tagline here is ‘Aussie summer meets London winter‘, as I was reminded of my time travelling, and this is the closest to getting that feeling I’ve had in a while!

They did their big opening on the 26th October - so I am indeed very late!
The vibe is amazing and definitely needed in these winter months - it makes you feel like you’re in a little surf coffee shop in Australia! With lots of art on the walls and a bright interior, I absolutely loved it. The coffee was absolutely fantastic. They also have a selection of beans you can buy to take home. I wanted to get more, but needing to use up everything I have at home, I put it on my Christmas list instead.

We know I always appreciate the latte art, and even on their first, super busy day, it was amazing! Always love those additional seconds of dedication that make a coffee feel so much better.

In the time since their opening, I’ve been back and had a sit-down coffee (outside), and it’s a fab spot for people watching.

You should definitely pay them a visit if you live in the area - or even if you don’t - it’s right next to Clapham Junction, so you really don’t have an excuse!!
