The Palmers Greenery Community Cafe

The Palmers Greenery Community Cafe Volunteer powered Community Cafe in Broomfield Park OPEN Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs & Weekends

We are shaping the model of future Enfield park cafés; a successful community partnership that enriches our beautiful park. We are powered by volunteers and cannot open without time, skills and energy contributed for free, so please be respectful. As a social enterprise, our profit is directly reinvested back into Broomfield Park

We care about our park and the wider environment. That's why we use

local suppliers and food sources as far as possible. We also feel very strongly about litter and waste so will compost food waste, take-out cups and napkins (which are all bio-degradable)

We are so much more than a park cafe - bringing old and young together, reaching out to vulnerable groups and providing a platform for local people to gain valuable skills and work experience.

From Cafe to Compost ♻️ Did you know that our coffee grounds and food waste is collected weekly by a dedicated Friends of Broomfield Park team. Our waste is stockpiled in the black bin until needed to make up a new compost heap. The different sized heaps are at various stages of maturity. They were created from meadow hay, weeds, wetlands reeds and coffee grounds. Having a mixture of materials is key and our coffee grounds are a great additive; seems to attracts thousands of worms. It takes between 6 and 12 months for a new heap to turn into usable compost. Finished compost (blue pallet bay) gets used across the park in raised beds, for mulching trees etc. How brilliant is that?! ♻️💚
