Farewell food folks.
After a year of this great experiment we called Moio (that we’d hoped to keep going at least a little while longer) we find ourselves having to close doors at 188 Stoke Newington High Street. It was a punt we’re incredibly proud to have taken, we bet on ourselves and that, we continue to think, is always a good move. We are, unabashedly quite proud of what we were able to do on our best nights and humble for your feedback. We will, each of us, continue to pursue the delight of others through food, drink and hospitality. Our baggage (or knife rolls) will be all the richer for the experiences and challenges we’ve had over the last 12 months. We are eternally grateful to the eclectic bunch that dined with us, we hope you felt the visit was worth it and that you left feeling a little better than you walked in; it’s why we went to work every day.
If you can, afford us a favor as we go onto our next adventures: in an age when it’s increasingly rare and difficult for independent restaurants to thrive, we only ask that you support your local favorites and owner-run restaurants; tell your friends, take your friends and ask them to do the same.
You can continue to follow along and see what’s in store for us both at and we’re down but far, far, far from out. The last and possibly biggest thank you we’ve reserved for our team. We wouldn’t have made it a year without your support and spirit. All the highs we owe to you all, keep doing your thing because it is something worth doing.
Love,
João and Carolina
(Proudly the owners of Moio from 2019 to 2020)
Check out for what we'll be cooking up next...
