When I decided to have crepes as the evening food for my wedding I knew it would be a unique and popular choice but I actually had no idea quite how excited people would get over them! I have always been a huge fan of crepes and I when I suggested having them for our evening food my other half thought it was a fantastic idea. Out of all the weddings I have attended I have never seen crepes before
so I thought it would be an original twist on the popular ‘street food’ choices that have been making an appearance at weddings this year. Although I know that most people love crepes, I knew it was important to find a great company who were passionate not only about what they were doing but about the ingredients they were using. I looked around a lot but I just couldn’t seem to find a company that I was happy to use. Then, one day, I came across French chef Djamel and his fabulous blue Citroen crepe van. My other half and I went to meet with him and were immediately won over by his warm personality and obvious passion for traditional French crepes. We tried a couple of crepes, both sweet and savory, and were completely blown away, they were absolutely delicious!! Djamel grew up in Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France and is extremely passionate about food, he uses a traditional family recipe for his sweet and savoury batter and he only uses the freshest ingredients available. He offers a fantastic selection of fillings, from sugar, cinnamon and orange to goats cheese, walnut and honey (which is absolutely scrumptious). At any event or wedding, Djamel is happy to serve from his amazing retro van or he can set up anywhere with a table and his small portable marquee. As we were having an outdoor Summer wedding we loved the idea of Djamel turning up with his cute little van and our guests being able to just come over throughout the night and order a crepe whenever they felt like it. On the night the crepes were such a huge hit, people were crowding around watching them being made and going back for seconds and even thirds! Everyone has been raving about them since and saying how how fantastic Djamel was, so we really couldn’t have been happier!
