Hospitality is the heartbeat of our communities. It creates jobs, supports local economies, keeps high streets thriving, and brings people together. But the sector is facing unprecedented pressure from rising energy and food costs, soaring employment expenses, unfair business rates, and one of the highest VAT rates in Europe.
On 1 July, the industry is uniting behind VAT's The Problem - a campaign calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%. A fairer 10% VAT rate would help pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and nightclubs invest in jobs, support customers, strengthen local communities, and drive economic growth.
Led by Tom Kerridge and backed by businesses across the sector, this is a campaign for everyone who relies on hospitality, from chefs and bar staff to farmers, brewers, suppliers and customers.
