Spring/summer menu is on the pass.

A new snack platter to share - fried chicken, gado gado, fenugreek crackers, charred hispi with ginger and spring onion sauce.

Nasi lemak with the chicken and potato curry I grew up eating.

And something I've wanted on the menu for a while: pandan coconut pudding with condensed milk yoghurt and toasted coconut.

There are cookbooks and then there are milestones.

Huge congratulations to on the release of *The Malay Cook* - a truly important piece of work. To my knowledge, this is the first cookbook published in the Western world dedicated fully to Malay cuisine, and that matters more than words can quite capture.

For so long, our food has been shared in fragments - a dish here, a reference there. Even in my own books, although I cover standard bearer dishes from the wide range of races in Malaysia, my focus is on the dishes closest to my personal heritage, rooted in Chinese and Peranakan traditions. So to see a body of work that so clearly, confidently, and lovingly centres Malay cooking feels incredibly significant.

What moved me most is the heart behind it - his deep love and respect for his grandmother, Che Aminah. You can feel that this isn’t just a cookbook, it’s preservation, memory, and legacy on every page. And having tasted her matrimonial chicken at the launch - absolutely delicious - it made that connection feel even more real and special.

Ranie, I’m so proud to see you flying the flag for our shared heritage with such care and genuine emotion. This is how cultures are honoured and carried forward.

Here’s to more stories, more flavours and more voices being heard 🇲🇾✨

Highlights from an incredible CNY party in the spirit of a Chinese Malaysian open house.

Showed off Yee Sang in the best way it should be experienced (Standing! Large platter!), and several other dishes from Sambal Shiok: The Malaysian Cookbook and Simply Malaysian.
