Gussy The Ice Cream Man Gus Bodur aka Gussy The Ice Cream Man was born in Whitechapel in 1963. In the early 1950’s his father Mr.

H Bodur began selling Ice Cream and Fruit from a stall in Piccadilly Circus where he worked for over 30 years. His youngest son Gus was severely dyslexic and couldn’t read or write until he met his wife Inez when he was 32 who taught him how to read. So school wasn’t great for Gus but he loved working with his Father. Gus started working on the stall with his father when he was a teenager and when

his father passed away, after working for him for decades - Gus took over the family business and started selling ice cream from his own ice cream van. Gussy has now worked as an ice cream man in London for over 35 years and is a recognised figure within his community - known for his infectious personality and charitable nature. In 2001 Gussy & his wife Inez took over Basing Hill Park Kiosk and went on to run Victoria Park Cafe in 2004. Victoria Park became a green flag park for the first time after their takeover of the Cafe because of the family’s positive contribution to the park community, their great hygiene and high quality food. In 2008 to expand the Gussy brand, the Bodur family also launched a series of children’s books that were illustrated by their daughter Chloe, who was age 10 at the time. These books were incredibly successful and were stocked in Borders, Waterstones, Foyles, Daunts and other leading book stores. In 2020 after graduating from university - now aged 21, Chloe used her lifelong savings to buy her own ice cream van too and started working with her little brother Olly in the local area. Making them the third generation of Bodur’s to spread joy via ice cream to the North West London community. In 2022 the Bodur family opened the doors to their first Ice Cream Parlour - located just minutes away from where the family have lived together for over 20 years - in the newly developed Brent Cross Town.
