Our September impact report is live.

Last month, our Barista Training and Employment Programme funded 98.63 hours of training and supported 3 graduates into paid work.

Training hours were lower this month, but job outcomes are on track. Our focus right now is the next step: finding the right employers to take on trainees who are ready to work.

Hiring in hospitality? Our graduates are trained, job-ready, and supported. Get in touch.

Bujumbura Province, Burundi. 1,750 metres up.

This is Migoti Coffee. Two washing stations in the Mutambu hills, over 1,200 smallholder farmers, and a seasonal team of 250+, mostly women, running the sorting, drying and quality control.

That’s what goes into our Migoti Hill coffee: a washed Bourbon with notes of almond, cola and raisin.

Once a year, Migoti invites its farmers to the washing station to drink the coffee they grew, served with milk and sugar, the way most people in the region take it. Migoti also sells roasted beans to farmers so they can drink their own harvest at home.

The people who grow it should get to drink it.

Come taste something different.

Join us for Uncommon Coffee, a free guided tasting with ZeroToOne Coffee of some of the most unusual things happening in coffee right now. We’ll pour rare varieties and co-fermented coffees, with flavours you won’t find in your usual cup, and talk through what’s behind them.

No expertise needed. Just curiosity.

Teaching real skills wherever they’re needed.

Goiuri, our Impact Manager, recently spent the day at Euston Food Bank with the brilliant team at Havas. She ran a hands-on session covering espresso, steaming milk, and serving customers. It’s the kind of skills that open doors to café and hospitality jobs.

It’s exactly what our trainees learn on our Barista Training and Employment Programme, just in a new setting.

Huge thanks to Euston Food Bank for having us, and to Havas for making it happen.

Meet Excelsa.

A rare, limited-edition coffee from South Sudan with around 25% less caffeine, bright fruit character and deeper, richer notes.

Excelsa is also showing real promise as a climate-resilient coffee variety. And there’s a little more to every bag: £1 goes to Action Against Food Poverty, helping bring food and company to those who need it most.

Available now, while it lasts.

Every month, we look at who’s come through our Barista Training and Employment Programme and the difference they’ve gone on to make.

Behind every number is a real person. A new skill learnt, a new opportunity, or a step towards employment.

And your coffee plays a part in that.

By choosing Old Spike, you’re helping create practical routes into work for people experiencing homelessness.

What does your coffee actually make possible?

We wanted to make that a little easier to see.

Our new Impact Dashboard shows, in real time, how purchases across our cafés contribute to training, paid work placements and pathways into employment.

11 years of Old Spike, and we thought it was time for a little refresh.

We’ve refreshed the brand to better reflect what we’re all about: great specialty coffee and the impact that runs through every bit of the business.

Same Old Spike, just a little more us.
