It is with great sadness that I announce the recent passing of my beloved parents, Kyriacou and Gregory Xenophontos, within a week of each other. You may or may not know this but when we started Tsiakkos 26 years ago, they played a fundamental role in helping Xen and I in our new restaurant business the way any loving parents would.
Mum helped by firstly looking after baby George, then not too long after, baby Greg, followed by baby Alberto a few years later, enabling me to cook and prep for Tsiakkos in those early years whilst raising a young family. Most importantly however, she helped because of her incredible cooking and baking skills that inspired me from an early age to cook and bake what she had taught me and made me want to share with others her amazing recipes both at home and at work. Dad, as a retired chef, would religiously come to Tsiakkos twice a week until his early 80’s. He would prep the kitchen for evening service, make Greek coffee for the barbers at Andy’s, greet the delivery men, chat with the dustmen and banter with anyone who happened to be passing by. He was always smiling and cracking a joke, always leaving a lasting impression and even until recently, someone would ask me how he was doing and what he was up to. 
As a mark of respect for Kyriacou and Gregory, Tsiakkos will be closed on Tuesday 18th October, the day of their funeral. 
May their memories be eternal
