From our beginning as a family owned business in a Spanish seaside town, our second cafe, (originally I Love Coffee Shop) in Streatham in 2011, to the opening of our third shop just outside Purley Station in 2015, we’ve tried to stay true to our beliefs, every day providing people a remarkable experience, being served by our artists, who just happen to use a coffee machine. We want to be a good place for everyone. As an independent retailer, we also want to be considered a good place to shop in store or on the web, offering something for everyone, from tempting and exclusive coffee blends to our own branded cups, mugs and syrups to compliment each and every taste. There are a million things we would do for our customers, there’s one thing we have to stop doing so much.

We were pretty relaxed with our rules before, then we got into a big spot of bother one month from it.

We brought rules in to protect ourselves, and sadly not everyone has been following them (despite the signage everywhere), this makes it really really awkward for us.

We don’t want to interrupt your working, but we also have to enforce our rules to both look after ourselves AND be respectful and fair to the many people who do follow our rules.

It’s got to the point now where we are having to be quite blunt about it. We are one of the only independents on the high street that allow you to use laptops and we genuinely want it to stay that way, we have incredible regular customers who we want to provide that for.

When we take into account power, WiFi, cost of items and staffing, a £2.75 tea or a £4 coffee is not going to make us enough money to cover the costs, which is why we limit use to the 6 spaces on our big table and are enforcing fair spend policies to ensure the people using those seats are also contributing back to the shop with their spending.

Please dont make us make it more awkward than it already feels, dont pretend you didn’t see the 8 signs, don’t pretend you missed how much time it at had been, don’t pretend you’re “ordering more later” and then leave without doing so.

We love all our customers so please dont give us a reason to hold a grudge! 🙂🤝🫶
