It was never supposed to be like this. It was never meant to be an experience leaving women feeling so empty, depleted, lonely, and self doubtful, when their worlds, their hearts and their homes have become so full, of love.
Mothering is a beautiful journey & we have what we need within us, we know , we are all seeing and all feeling when it comes to our children, we know them better than anyone. The system and culture of motherhood however, makes mothering a lot harder, a lot more confusing, a lot more lonely, a lot more depleting.
In the age of information we should ‘know’ how to do it right? No.
There is a huge over saturation of information, theorising, tracking and its the demise of intuitive motherhood. It’s unravelling the threads of maternal wisdom. I’m not sure what the answer is, I just know that we were never meant to raise children like this.
Our children trust us, let’s meet them there…it’s so important we learn to trust ourselves more.
Which slide rang true the most for you? As a woman running a maternal nourishment business, of course, the undernourished piece is central to my everyday mission and takes up a lot of my mind airtime but also, I think lots about how women need other women in this time. Women who have walked the path, elders and nurturers, we need to just bloody live in community , real community don’t we. (Preferably with acres of food growing and roaming, all different skillsets, and absolutely no technology so nobody catches the dreaded comparisonitus! Who’s coming?!)
Mothers, whether ever you are on your journey, you are amazing, take two hands and hold face in your hands on either cheek. Take a breath, and tell yourself you are doing well, because you are.
