WHo said running a restaurant would be easy, 7 years of residencies and pop ups, all we ever wanted was to have our own space, make our own decisions. Do things the Whole Beast way, the way we want to eat and drink out on our days off.
Paper thin margins, loans, then another loan and one more to get us there and then paying them back.
But we have a space, a place we can call home, a place where people say it’s like being in our front room into which so many meals have been served to friends and family, a place we feel comfortable and a place we want people to feel comfortable. Our playlist, our food. This is where we do our best work…within the rave.
It’s tough, it’s month to month, May in particular with the tragic events on Coldharbour Lane have echo’d across our little stretch in Brixton and the effects of that have made business beyond tough.
But we do it for the regulars, the repeat offenders, the sinners, the winners, the ones with excellent taste, the ones who bring their friends and say you must try this we had it last time, the passers by who just like the name, the ones who only know us for our burger, the ones who only know us for our burger…but then realise we are more then sum of our parts and return for the rest of the menu. The ones who wanna talk about the smoker. The ones who wanna know who supports Norwich 🔰
These are the reasons we want a restaurant, we want to serve that dish, to pour that drink, to talk about that pop up we first met at, share a laugh, drop that spoon on the floor in the restaurant, share that laugh aswell.
We couldn’t be more grateful, so thank you, from all of us at Whole Beast.
We want to be here for a long time and a good time…and without you…it wouldn’t be the same.
