We’re hiring good people who make good coffee.

Looking for:
– Experienced baristas
– A supervisor

This isn’t a “stand behind the machine and avoid eye contact” kind of place. It’s busy, it’s people-first, and our standards speak for themselves.

You’ll need to:
– know the ins and outs of speciality coffee
– love talking to people and getting to know your regulars
– handle a rush without losing your head

Supervisor role = someone who can lead a shift, keep things moving, and look after both team and customers properly.

If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.

Back to Ours turns three today🎂

Three years of early mornings. Dogs asking for treats. Chats over the counter. Flat whites and brunch plates. Babies becoming toddlers. Strangers becoming regulars.

It’s no secret that independent cafés are having a tough time right now. You only have to look around to see how many good places are disappearing.

So the fact that people keep choosing to walk through our door - for coffee, for food, for a moment of calm, for somewhere that feels a little bit like theirs - means more than we can properly say.

This café exists because you keep showing up. And we don’t take that for granted for a second.

So on Sunday we’re celebrating the only way that feels right: with cake.

We’ll have three cakes on the counter. All you have to do is buy your regular coffee, wish us happy birthday and will gift you a slice. Until we run out.

Here’s to another year of doing this together ☕️🍰

Today we’re opening the doors with our neighbours at for their Open House and it’s shaping up to be one of those “just popping in” → accidentally stay all day kind of days.

Studios open, artists in, workshops, films, garden hangs, community everything. Free, family-friendly, and a very good excuse to romanticise your Saturday in E11.

We’ve built a special menu for the occasion:

MAINS
Broken eggs
Soft scrambled eggs, sourdough, olive oil, house chilli oil, herbs

Avo toast
Crushed avocado, lemon, olive oil, flaky salt, sourdough

SPECIAL
Feta, chilli & orange hand pies
Pastry, whipped feta, fresh chilli, orange zest

SANDWICH
Roast pumpkin, ricotta & radicchio
Roasted pumpkin, ricotta, radicchio, dressing, bread

SALADS
Orzo pasta salad
Roasted vegetables, herbs, dressing

Potato salad
Brown butter dressing, dill

Panzanella
Tomatoes, toasted bread, olive oil, green sauce

Come for the studios, stay for a drink, leave with crumbs on your top and a new favourite artist.

Tomorrow we’re throwing the doors open with our neighbours at for their Open Day—and honestly, it’s a bit of a love letter to Leytonstone.

Think:
• Behind-the-scenes building tours
• Artists opening up their studios (yes, you can snoop)
• Workshops, tasters, films, garden bits, community everything
• And a whole day of meeting the people quietly making this corner of E11 what it is

It’s free, it’s family-friendly, and it’s basically your sign to leave the house and pretend you’re the kind of person who does cultural things on a Saturday.

We’ll be holding it down café-side with a special menu:
– Citrus Iced Tea (back by popular demand, borderline cult status)
– Espresso Tonic (for the “I don’t want a coffee but I also absolutely do” crowd)
– Strawberry Iced Matcha (spring has entered the chat)
– Iced filter using our guest beans from Intermission Coffee

Plus a few food bits to keep you upright while you “just quickly pop in” and accidentally stay for four hours. We’ll tell you more about food first thing tomorrow to whet your appetite!

10am–4:30pm
Good Shepherd Studios, Davies Lane

Come for a wander, stay for a drink, leave knowing at least three new creative people and one dog.

This February, we’re excited to feature our friends at as our guest roaster.

Wood St coffee focuses on true specialty coffee — meaning every step from farm to cup meets the highest standards. Their coffees are sustainably sourced from specific regions and small farms, fully traceable, responsibly harvested at peak ripeness, carefully roasted to highlight natural flavours, and brewed with precision to ensure the best possible cup.

This month’s selection includes:

🇷🇼 Rwanda – Kinini Series 01
From the women’s cooperative Kinini Agriculture Cooperative (KARC).
A beautifully expressive cup with gooseberry and lemon tea notes, clean and bright acidity, elegant florals, and juicy fruit sweetness.

🇷🇼 Rwanda – Kinini Series 02
Grown at high altitude, where slower cherry development creates deeper layers of flavour complexity. Expect notes of dried cranberry and oolong tea, a clean finish, and lingering red berry sweetness. Structured, delicate, and beautifully balanced.

🇨🇴 Colombia – El Jaragual
At origin, this lot goes through a unique processing method — yeast inoculation and thermal shock — designed to enhance the flavor and intensify its natural fruit character. With the roaster carefully bringing out its best expression, you’ll taste notes of dried mango and star fruit, supported by a mellow texture and a smooth, round body.

Available on filter and in our retail section 🫶🏼☕️

We’ve checked the rota, consulted the group chat, and asked ourselves some big questions about balance, boundaries and whether anyone really needs a flat white on Christmas Day.

The verdict? Even your favourite coffee shop needs a day off. But here are the rest of our hours, so you can navigate your leftovers around your latte.

Thank you for another wonderful year together. Enjoy your time off. Be merry. And tip your baristas- they’re Santa’s elves but in the real world.
