We are 5 years old today!
What this time has taught me is that I don’t take enough photos to truly appreciate the journey so far. So my apologies for the random selection of images.
We have been through the ups and downs associated with any business in our time, I could go on about how the government it’s absolutely blowing it for UK hospitality… but I won’t. We try and keep a positive attitude here, weathering any storms and trusting/ enjoying the process despite the challenges.
We have been through various iterations, tried, failed and succeeded at new things. Bought, traded from and sold a coffee trailer, been through about 5 different broken tow cars, ran cocktail nights, fed many dogs treats, fed many people coffee, opened up more seating, endless amateur DIY, did fun collabs, popups. And much more. The thing I love the most is the community this place has built, customers have become friends, a first date here became an engagement. I have selfishly had all my emotional fulfilment topped up every day by serving you lot. More money would be nice, but I couldn’t ask for a better little coffee shop to run. Thanks massively to the team past and present, Patch, Raph & Noah currently making my cafe ownership experience the best it has ever been to be honest. Finally thanks to all of you for continuing to support and sink those sweet coffees on a daily basis. Much love, Jam x

Despite being savagely beaten by rising costs in recent months, it’s humbling to achieve a record day of coffee sold on a Friday today.
We really appreciate you spending your hard earned bunce on your coffee addictions at BUTTER UP.
Jokes aside, we understand everyone is feeling the squeeze and we are too, so we hope we are making this uncertain period a little bit better when you come in for that delicious hot beverage.
We will be changing a few things come the new year, namely some more seating and (dare I say it) a customer toilet.
There will be more updates, but we’ll leave those for another time, the thought of the toilet probably got you excited enough.
Let’s hope for a strong December!

We've added these product cards to our retail bags to keep you better informed on the origins of the coffee you're drinking.

Our partners do incredible work building relationships directly with producers, leading to unrivalled consistency and quality in cup.

We'll be showcasing their work a lot more as we move in to 2023 and we're extremely proud to be working with such a brilliant roaster.

What a great day!
Today might have been the definition of being thrown in the deep end; from many ££££ worth of equipment not arriving on time (still not got it) to not having the right electrics, having a mad scramble 30 minutes before opening to purchase and wire in some connectors, we got through and our maiden voyage in the coffee trailer. A very busy few hours which is obviously great.
Big special thanks to the organiser, Holly for reviving this market so successfully. The great man who wired our cables in. And thanks to Myles for sorting us out with the right gear so last minute.
Grateful to you all and to those that came to join us.
Look forward to coming back much stronger next time.
