A (long 😆) message from James:
Tomorrow will be my last shift at Stantons before my family and I move to Cyprus — and it also marks our final day before the shop closes for our summer break.
9 years ago, Stantons began as a dream and a dusty renovation project and it’s hard to put into words just how much this chapter of my life has meant to me. Being part of building this place has truly been one of the most fulfilling and creative things I’ve ever done.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to witness so many special moments here: friendships formed, babies born, couples getting engaged & married and some difficult goodbyes too.
Stantons has always been more than just a place to grab a coffee — it’s been a space for connection, creativity and community.
Some of my favourite memories include trying coffee from all over the world, going all out for April Fools & Halloween, running Enfield-wide treasure hunts, balloon-popping birthday celebrations, showcasing amazing local artwork, filming a full rap video (yes… that really happened), and coming together for causes like Wear It Pink.
But more than the events, what’s stayed with me the most is the people — the chance to meet some truly remarkable humans, to form lifelong friendships, and to share countless moments both big and small. The everyday things meant just as much: the morning hellos, quiet chats, shared laughter and the trust so many of you gave us.
It’s been joyful, emotional and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.
Thank you to everyone who ever walked through our doors, supported us online, or shared a kind word. I’m truly grateful for every bit of it.
My family and I are moving to Cyprus — a long-held dream we’re excited to make real. You can follow our journey over at
This isn’t goodbye — I’ll be back and forth, and I’ll continue to run this account. And don’t worry — your head barista and master of calm, will be keeping things running with his usual brilliance — so you’ll be in excellent hands.
Added some snaps throughout the years 📷
See you soon.
Thanks for the memories.
