Please note we will be closed to the public on Saturday 1st August until 6pm, to celebrate the wonder life of our very much loved local Phil Smith❤️

In Loving Memory of Phil Smith.

Family and friends are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate the life of Phil Smith of Cae Porth, Llangynidr.

Phil's funeral service will take place on Saturday 1st August 2026 at 11:30am at Sirhowy Valley Crematorium.

In honour of Phil, the family would love for those attending to wear a rugby shirt or something red, reflecting his passion for Wales and rugby.

Donations in lieu of flowers are kindly welcomed in support of the Royal British Legion, with a donation box available at the chapel on the day of the service.

Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to continue sharing memories of Phil at The Red Lion, Llangynidr.

Our thoughts are with Jan, Claire, Abi and all of Phil's family and friends at this difficult time. ❤️

Just a quick update on our food service this week.

Due to a private party from 7pm on Saturday evening (Saturday 11th July), we won't be serving food on Saturday evening.

Thank you for your understanding!

Our food service this week is:

🍽️ Tuesday: 5:30pm – 8:30pm
🍽️ Wednesday – Friday: 12:00pm – 3:00pm & 5:30pm – 8:30pm
🍽️ Saturday: 12:00pm – 3:00pm (no evening food service)
🍽️ Sunday: 12:00pm – 3:00pm

We look forward to welcoming you throughout the week.

Due to a deep clean of the kitchen - the pub won’t be open Thursday 2nd July lunchtime.

We’ll be back open from 4pm serving drinks and food service from 5:30pm onwards🙏

Due to the temperatures and our kitchen reaching above 40 degrees 🥵 this will be our lunch time menu for Wednesday 24th (today) and Thursday 25th (tomorrow).

Our normal menu will resume for evening service, but there may be slight changes.

We will also be reducing service times to 12-2pm (last orders at 2pm) and 6-8pm (last orders at 8pm)
