Why Are Our Sit-In Prices Higher Than Our Takeaway Prices?
We are sometimes asked why there is a difference between our sit-in and takeaway prices.
When you choose to enjoy your food and drinks in our café, there are additional costs involved in providing that experience. These include:
* VAT (Value Added Tax): In the UK, many takeaway food items can be treated differently for VAT purposes, whereas food and drinks consumed on the premises are generally subject to VAT. This increases the cost of serving sit-in customers.
* Table Service and Customer Care: Our team members spend time welcoming customers, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables, and ensuring everyone has a pleasant experience.
* Kitchen and Preparation Staff: Our cooks and kitchen team prepare every meal to the same high standard, whether it’s takeaway or sit-in.
* Pot Wash and Cleaning Costs: Customers dining in use crockery, cutlery, glasses, and tableware that must be washed, sanitised, and maintained. We also have staff dedicated to keeping the café clean and comfortable.
* Premises Costs: Sit-in customers enjoy heated or air-conditioned seating areas, lighting, music, toilets, Wi-Fi (if provided), and a comfortable environment. These facilities all contribute to the cost of the service.
* Staffing Costs: Providing a dine-in experience requires additional staffing, including waitresses, servers, cleaners, kitchen porters, and supervisors.
The takeaway price reflects the lower cost of packaging and preparing food for customers who are not using the café’s facilities and services.
We appreciate every customer, whether you choose takeaway or dine-in, and we strive to offer excellent value and quality in both cases.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
