We were absolutely delighted to welcome visitors, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to the opening of the Llanelli Art Society ’s stunning Victorian collection upstairs at Llanelly House. What a celebration of history, creativity, and dedication it has been!
A true highlight is the incredible work of John Wynne Hopkins Artist, who has brought the past vividly to life with a meticulously researched painting capturing a Victorian view from the upstairs window. The level of historical detail is remarkable, every brushstroke reflects hours of careful study and a deep respect for Llanelli’s heritage. You can almost step into the scene and experience the town as it once was.
Up on the top floor, visitors will find another deeply moving series created over the past year by a talented member of the Llanelli Art Society. These paintings explore the lives of Victorian children, telling a powerful story of change. From the early days when many children were sent out to work, to the gradual introduction of laws that opened the door to education for all. The collection captures both hardship and hope in equal measure.
Together, these works create something truly special: a journey through time that connects art, history, and community in the most meaningful way.
If you haven’t visited yet, make sure you do, this is local history brought beautifully to life. 🎨✨
