It is with a heavy heart we have decided to end our tenancy at the Cross Keys, we have had an amazing 3 and a half years at the pub.
Thank you to all our staff and customers during our time here
We have had some increasing difficult challenges over our time here but the main one being the restrictions put in the place by the council due to complaints from neighbouring properties.
These restrictions have had such an impact on the business it’s become no longer viable to continue.
After nearly 2 years of battling with the council and other authorities we cannot continue any longer.
After chasing the council multiple times, phone calls, emails etc, they don’t even response and are not interested.
Restrictions on usage of the beer garden, events and acts, music, children being present on the premises and other restrictions including ball games, during the summer months this is what excels the business and helps it survive through the winter months.
Due to these restrictions we have seen a massive drop in the amount of customers coming to visit us, amongst other events at other venues which people will of course attend as we cannot put anything on.
We have decided to close the kitchen from today but all functions will still be taking place until we hand the keys back to the brewery on Wednesday 9th September.
Somebody else is taking over the pub on Wednesday 9th September and it will remain open under new management but we are unsure of their plans going forward.
