THE ANGEL INN...🪽🍺

The frontage to Bold Street’s first ever true pub is coming along nicely. ‘The Angel’ will have entrances on both Bold Street and Wood Street.

The first of several exterior signs is up, visible behind the scaffold. A reclaimed sign from a long lost pub in Salford. Great craftsmanship in evidence. We think this is a fitting new home for it.🙌

Can we introduce our new one - the Angel Inn.

Possibly the first ever true pub on Bold Street. In its illustrious history Liverpool’s iconic shopping street has been home to much and varied retail, many restaurants and coffee shops, and indeed the odd bar or two. But never a proper boozer.

We’re establishing ‘The Angel’ on the former site of Maggie May’s Cafe. Before the new century it had operated as a vinyl record store for many years. The Maggie’s Cafe team retired their 20 year old family business at the end of last year and were keen for their successors to offer something very different. We were happy to oblige.

We are first and foremost pub people, and particularly passionate about Victorian pubs and architecture. As we began to work on the old Maggie’s site we were able to reveal many 19th century features lost to time. We have made these elements key components of the look and feel of our new/old pub interior.

For ‘The Angel’ pub, a stunning 10 metre long complete, original, Victorian back bar and counter was sourced. It will be the centre piece and heart of the pub.

Additionally, the venue will be bedecked in incredible ornately scripted and crafted original 19th and early 20th century pub mirrors, all sourced from period antique specialists.

‘The Angel Inn’ will open in the middle of August and to follow all the build up to the ‘grand opening’ please follow on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
