We handed the keys to 124 Aiggy Rd back to the landlord today. Although our doors have been closed a fortnight, I have put off writing this post because it is hard and I am soft. Ive spent a good amount of time since fielding DMs from beautiful people showering us with love. How lucky are we? It has been a tremendous privilege to feed, water and (truthfully) just hang out with our wonderful customers and friends. We were very good at that bit I think. Not so good at making the tough decisions needed to keep a business viable in these times. Unfortunately, we never quite got around that corner. Good intentions and all that. We tried... and had the best five years while we did. We really felt (me espesh) that we were a part of something. Onion was always the people. We have made so many friends and we hope those connections will last our lifetimes. We will always treasure the memories of the Onion friends we lost. Beautiful Alison, who was loved by all. And Alistair, who was loved by me 😉 Thank you for your support, for enjoying our food, for digging the Sound of Onion (often provided by Mr Bernie Connor Himself) and for getting our daft, inappropriate humour. We are so grateful for all the happy memories, positive vibes and so much love. Hopefully these have found their way into the bricks and mortar. We wish the next occupants every success with their venture, and urge everyone to keep supporting local indys.
Much love Kerry, Barry and all the Onion Elves
