Absolutely gutted 😔💔..
We are so sorry that we couldn't open last night.
Its the first time in our 19 year history that we've had to close at such short notice, but devastating none the less 😔

The closure was due to a burst mains pipe in the building above us, that happened not long before we were due to open and was completely out of our control.

Its hit our business hard, but not as much as the pain of having to let those down who had booked in with us.

Our team did their absolute best to contact everyone as quickly as possible but we appreciate the news came at such short notice.

We are so so sorry for any inconvenience caused and we really can't thank you all enough for your understanding 🙇‍♂️

Yesterday and today as we licked our wounds and worked flat to ensure we could open tonight, was a tough one and thank you so much to those who have already rebooked back in with us.

Sometimes you have to be kind to yourself with the things you can't control, but this will be painful for a while to come.

Our sincere apologies to those affected and hopefully we get the chance to make your next visit extra special ❤️

Dining outside or inside 🤔.......Which one do you prefer?

Definitely light Japanese food kinda weather this week, with sushi being the obvious choice 😎

And we also have our dog water bowls and treats at the ready for those bringing their lovely dogs to see us in our Etsu Garden 🫶 🐾

All welcome to swing by, even if just for drinks, but you will surely end up with some sharing plates 😂

Love seeing our city come alive 🥰..
Thank you to everybody who has visited us this week as its been a busy one! We are looking a bit quiet on Friday & Saturday though so we'd love to see you if you don't already have plans.

After almost 19 years of Etsu, one pattern that hasn't changed, is when an outdoor event is on in the city, we generally have a quiet night 🤔

I noticed it in Japan too how touristy places can be so busy, yet inside independent shops and restaurants tend to be quiet.

Not sure why that is, but if you are going to the gigs on at the Waterfront this weekend, you'll most likely pass us on the way in or out and so if you fancy a bite to eat or quick drink, we're open from 4pm.

Booking in early so you can get fed in time for the England game 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Love it! 😂

I often get asked what are my favourites on our menu and genuinely I love it all 😋😋

However, we are all creatures of habit and as I don't get to be a customer as often as I'd like, these are often my family's go to sushi picks 🥰

Did you know.....?

Last Friday we served more customers who joined us without a reservation than those that had one.

We are always super grateful for everybody who chooses to come through our restaurant door no matter what the reason. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion booked in advance or just left work and thought I need an Etsu right now 🥰

Back on specials!! 🙌..
We used to have this on our main menu as its one of my favourites, but it was very hit and miss.

So we took it off yet when we add it to our specials menu, it always proves very popular 🤔

It pairs really well with most of our dishes so great for when you're having sharing plates and our Chefs make it up fresh in house which is a joy to watch being cooked.

For those who've never had it, tamago yaki is a Japanese style sweet omelette that is cooked thinly and rolled to create lots of layers which makes it deliciously fluffy.

We have quite a bit of space still for Friday, Saturday & Sunday and we're open from 4pm each day if you fancy join us 💛
