With a full heart, we are now officially closed 🥲

Since announcing our closure, the amount of love and support we’ve received has truly been overwhelming. From the cards, flowers, drawings, and messages, to so many of you visiting us multiple times over the past few weeks… even travelling from other cities just to dine with us one last time and say goodbye. Every single gesture has meant more than we can put into words!

You’ve brought back so many memories for us. It made us realise just how special these past 6 years have been, not just as a restaurant, but because of the people we’ve met along the way — all of you. And this is the most precious thing we have gained in this journey.

While the restaurant may be closed (for now, we hope), the connections we’ve made and the laughter we’ve shared will always stay with us. That’s something we will carry forward, wherever we go next.

With all our love, truly — THANK YOU, every single one of you.

We hope to see you again soon ❤️ ( Don’t unfollow us ! Or you may miss our update ! 👋🏻🥲)

In the blink of an eye, we only have about 10 days left until our final day of HK brunch on the 29th 😭

Last weekend was so, so, so full. We tried our absolute best to fit everyone in because we knew so many of you had travelled to visit us before we close, and we would have hated to disappoint you. Thank you so much to those of you who waited 😭

There are now only two weekends left. If you know you’ll be coming, we’d really recommend booking a table so we can organise things better and avoid having you standing around waiting.

We’re so looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible. And thank you so much to everyone who has already come in the past two weeks — some of you have even been a few times. A special thank you as well to those who travelled from another city to visit us again 😭 We honestly can’t tell you how much that means to us.

We really hope this isn’t a forever goodbye, but for now, this is your last chance to come and get your favourite dish — or try our HK-style brunch again.

Book now 😎🫵🏻

In Hong Kong cafes (茶餐廳Cha Chaan Teng), silky scrambled eggs are done a little differently from western scrambled egg. Instead of firm, fluffy curds like the Western style, ours are extra creamy, buttery and silky smooth — gently folded until they almost melt into the toast. 🤤

Soft eggs. Toasted bread. Simple, comforting, and unbelievably satisfying.

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. 🥪✨

We have been asked by a few customers what is “Five Spice Pork Cubes” 👀 In Cantonese we call it “五香肉丁 - Ng Heung Yuk Ding“

It’s small cubes of pork slowly cooked in a rich spicy and savoury sauce flavoured with Chinese five spice. It is a classic comfort topping often served with vermicelli or noodles Because of its rich flavour. In HK, most cafes actually use tinned five-spice pork for this dish — it’s part of the traditional cafe style. But here in the UK, tinned version simply isn’t available.😅

In order to serve you this popular HK Cafe dish, we recreate that nostalgic Hong Kong flavour from scratch - Fresh pork, hand-cut into cubes, slowly simmered with our own seasoning blend until the sauce becomes rich, glossy, and packed with flavour.

If you’ve never tried it before, this is one of the most authentic Hong Kong brunch flavours you can experience.

Come try it while our HK Brunch Project runs on weekends before we close ❤️

THE WAIT IS OVER! 🇭🇰🥢

Our fun little final project – Hong Kong Style Brunch is launching this weekend!

For the next 3 weekends only, we’ll be serving a taste of my childhood memories from Hong Kong’s iconic “Cha Chaan Teng” cafés — the kind of breakfast that perfectly blends East and West. Light enough to start your day, but satisfying enough to carry you through the afternoon.

Saturday 14th – Sunday 29th
Weekends only (Sat & Sun)
⏰ 10:00 – 14:30

On the menu:

🍜 Classic HK Brunch Set

• Butter + condensed milk
• Condensed milk + peanut butter
• Homemade vegan kaya (pandan & coconut spread)
From £10.50

🍞 Hong Kong Golden French Toast
Deep-fried egg-coated toast with peanut butter in the middle, topped with melting butter and syrup or condensed milk
£7.50

🥑 Avocado Toast + Fried Eggs
Finished with our house honey chilli oil drizzle
(non-spicy & vegan options available)
£8.50

✨ And more brunch specials!

☕ And of course, no HK breakfast is complete without the classics:
Hong Kong café milk tea and fresh iced lemon tea.

Come try something different and enjoy a little taste of Hong Kong with us before we close our doors. ❤️ 🥰

LET’S DO IT.

While we only have a few weeks left on the lease , we thought… why not run a little fun project before we close! And you guys seem to be interested to - so for the next few weekends, we’ll be serving HK-style brunch on Saturdays and Sundays at Bao & Bap.

I spent my childhood and teenage years in Hong Kong, and Cha Chaan Teng breakfasts (Hong Kong–style cafés) are a huge part of my memories growing up. Weekend mornings meant having brunch with my very busy parents before they headed off to work.

HK brunch is special because it’s light enough that you don’t feel bloated for hours, but filling enough to keep you going through the afternoon. It’s usually a mix of sweet and savoury — sometimes both in one set.

It’s also a very East-meets-West kind of breakfast culture — a little bit Chinese, a little bit Western , just like Hong Kong itself as a city — and it is exactly what makes Hong Kong cafés so unique.

Think soup vermicelli or instant noodles with toppings like ham, spicy pork belly cube, sausage, fried egg etc ; toasts with different spreads, and of course HK-style French toast with butter and syrup or condensed milk on top — which was always my absolute favourite as a child.

We’re really delighted to be able to run this little project and share a piece of my childhood with you all before we say goodbye for good.

Stay tuned — we’ll update you very soon with the menu, photos, and details. 🥐🍞

After a lot of thought and many difficult conversations, we want to let you know that our last day of trading will be 28/03, as our current lease naturally comes to an end.

This decision has not been easy. We have only got the news last week and have thought of all potential way to continue this but with a combination of rising costs, a significant rent increase for a new lease and ongoing operational challenges has made it increasingly difficult for us to continue sustainably under the current circumstances.

What we are incredibly proud of is what we have achieved over the past five years. We survived COVID. We pushed through the cost-of-living crisis. We adapted, learnt and kept going. And we simply could not have done any of it without your loyalty and support. Truly — without you, we would have been gone long before.

Every order, every message, every review, every recommendation to a friend has meant more than you probably realise.🥹

We would absolutely love to see as many of you as possible over the next few weeks. If there’s a favourite dish you’ve always loved, now is the perfect time to come and enjoy it (maybe even a few times!) before we close our doors on 28/03 - last Saturday of the month !

We don’t see this as a permanent goodbye. We very much hope it’s a “see you again” — just in a different place and perhaps in a different form. I genuinely love this business and what I do, and I hope one day we will pick up again elsewhere.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey over the last five years. 🌟 and let’s hope whoever are going to take over this space will continue to provide us all with nice food and happy vibe 😌

💌Thank You for Spending Valentine’s Night with Us ✨

We turned down the lights, lit the candles, added a few hearts, and let the space glow a little softer 💕 We hope you enjoyed the cosy, romantic twist on Bao & Bap as much as we loved creating it for you!

Seeing our tables filled, hands held under candlelight, and hearing your laughter made it so special for us. Thank you to everyone who chose to celebrate your evening with us — whether it was date night, Galentine’s, or just good food with your loved ones.

What did you think of our Valentine’s makeover? Should we do more themed nights like this? 👀💭

Due to an unexpected family commitment, our chef will be taking a short leave, and Bao & Bap will be closed from Wednesday 29 January to Sunday 2 February.

We’re really sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause. This was not an easy decision, but family comes first, and we truly appreciate your understanding and kindness.

We’ll be back open as usual from Monday 3 February, refreshed and ready to welcome you back with all your favourites.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support 🩷
