📢 UPDATE REGARDING OUR EVENT – 30TH AUGUST 📢

Following our recent meeting with Monmouthshire County Council, we have made the decision to go ahead with our event on 30th August.

We understand the concerns that have been raised regarding noise, and we want to reassure local residents that we are taking these matters seriously. As a result, we will be putting additional measures in place to manage and monitor noise levels, including particular attention to bass levels.

As part of this, the Council will be installing sound monitoring equipment to provide accurate, objective measurements of noise levels during the event. This will give us a clear and reliable record of the levels being experienced.

In addition, we will be carrying out our own noise monitoring throughout the event and keeping our own records.

Our aim is to run a successful event while being considerate of our neighbours and the surrounding community. We are committed to working with the Council and listening to any concerns so that we can find the right balance between putting on a great event and minimising any impact on local residents.

Over the past few weeks, further reports have been made to Monmouthshire Council regarding noise levels at The Little Jockey.

The complaints relate to our charity event in June and music played through our garden speakers(only bought last Saturday 1/08/26). We have our own noise monitoring equipment and recordings, which show that the music stopped well before the times permitted under our licence. We work hard to ensure we operate within the conditions of our licensing agreement and follow the correct procedures at all times.

We would genuinely like to understand why these complaints continue to be made when we are doing everything we can to comply with the rules.

Community events, including charity fundraisers, are an important part of what keeps local pubs alive. They bring people together, raise money for worthwhile causes, and help support a business that serves the local community. It is disheartening that repeated complaints are making us rethink how we approach these events when we are following all the correct avenues and operating within our licence.

That said, we want to be good neighbours. If any local residents have concerns about noise from The Little Jockey, I would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss them. Our aim is to find a sensible balance that allows us to continue supporting our community with events while also being respectful of those who live nearby.

I believe that open and honest conversation is far more productive than misunderstandings, and I’m confident we can work together to find an approach that everyone is comfortable with. If you would like to arrange a chat, please feel free to get in touch.
