The Quirky Bird Café was Reborn in January 2020 as a social enterprise café. Our focus is around the community, facilitation of support groups & mental health awareness. Over the past year we have facilitated the MS Support group and Fertility Support group in conjunction with approved bodies. As well as this, we have provided training opportunities to multiple vulnerable young adults to gain expe

rience of the catering industry through a working café. Over the next year, we intend to develop more support groups to service more areas of need in the community with your help. We aim to provide a safe space where adults in isolation feel welcome to come and have a coffee & a chat through the “chatter and natter” table initiative. So here is the new way forward…for every sandwich platter, family lasagna, tart or Signature Afternoon Tea, we will donate one meal to Moira Food Bank! Our "Pay It Forward" Scheme was launched earlier in the year, allowing customers to purchase an extra item for someone in need in the community; be it a coffee, bowl of porridge, lunch or family meal. Customers can add it to their online order or ask us to add it in-store. We keep it safe until someone in need pops in or we distribute it directly to Moira Food Bank. We are also acting as a collection point for Moira Food Bank and have a book exchange where all proceeds go directly to GAP. Order ahead with our click & collect service. You can now order online via our website. Everything from a platter, fry, sandwich, salad, or a cheeky wee coffee & treat! These orders can be placed days or weeks ahead for convenience. Call in and see us for a chat!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and took part in our annual quiz night!
Between the brainpower, the guessing (and the very confident wrong answers ), we had a fantastic evening full of laughs and great banter.
Even better, we raised an amazing £325.60 – brilliant effort all round!

A special shoutout to our quiz master and her fantastic helpers who kept everything running smoothly (and kept us all on our toes! ).

And congratulations to our winning team… champions for the second year running! Clearly, they’ve been doing their homework!

Commiserations to the rest of us… there’s always next year (or maybe we just need better teammates! ).
Same time next year… start revising now!

This August, we aim to cover a total of one thousand miles and raise £5,000. How? Every time a tandem goes out, we will record the distance covered and multiply it by two! One tandem covering ten miles equals twenty miles.

👋 Hi all, a big change to share:

After two and a half years, today will be our last day operating from the coffee dock. This wasn’t a decision we made ourselves, but one we’ve had to respect. We’re incredibly proud of everything we built here, and we’re so thankful to everyone who has supported us along the way.

The good news? We’re still here — our indoor café upstairs is now open 7 days a week, 9am–8pm, with breakfast and lunch served Tuesday to Saturday, 9am–3pm. 📆

☕ You’ll still find all your favourites — our full coffee menu, traybakes, hot food and more — and everything can still be enjoyed in the outdoor seating area just like before.

If you’ve loved what we’ve done at the dock, we’d love to welcome you upstairs. Your continued support means the world as we turn this new page.
