Thursday is set to be a real scorcher and we are going to be closing for the day as it will be way too warm to work in. The joy of a glass building.

Thank you everyone!

Just wanted to reach out to everyone who has sent us messages and posted back about our post on Sunday.

While it is frustrating I am overwhelmed by the support and kind words from so many and its greatly appreciated from myself and Rachel after all the moving, painting and planting we had done was so well received 🥰

A huge thank you to you all and a mention to local councillors Nicola Parker and Amanda Grehan for reaching out and are speaking with council about helping us get some replacements in.
Thank you also to Diedre Shannon from a Dromore community gardening group who offered out their help also.

So we will back planting again soon and like a few suggestions might just look at a few Venus fly traps, plenty of Cacti and a few nice thorny roses 🤣🤣🤣

And this is why we can't have nice things!

Have to say I am beyond p**sed off this morning. These plants and flowers are not something done by the square or provided by council.

This is out of my own pocket and our time and effort to make the cafe and the square look nice and pretty the place up a bit and yet this is what welcomes me this morning.

Plants pulled out and thrown on the ground, several of the little fir trees gone completely and even found one halfway down the carpark and a lot of the flowers just ripped out.

Coming close to 100,000 signatures so far but a good bit to go.
Please take 30 seconds to sign and help out the hospitality industry.

🎉 We’ve officially hit 75,000 signatures since launching – the united sector campaign calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has liked, shared or engaged with our campaign so far. Your support is helping to amplify the industry's voice – get in touch if you want to find out more about getting involved.

We’re making progress, but there’s still a long way to go.

Help us reach one million by signing the petition

Hello all just wanted to come and clear up some confusion as of late about public toilets and access.

We have received some messages about this and complaints from people.
Earlier today I had overheard a conversation outside the cafe about "Disgraceful" and "Just wrong" practices of The Glasshouse and the reason why these people were never returning to us.
I thankfully heard this and was able to speak with them and clear things up and they joined us today for lunch and enjoyed themselves but the information they had heard was from elsewhere.

So let's clear things up.
The downstairs toilets have been closed to the public for some years now but the information out there that we will only give keys to people who buy from us is just plain false.

The Glasshouse has no say in what happens with these toilets and we like everyone else have to use facilities elsewhere.

Nor before anyone comments is this something the council runs.

The toilets are the property of Lisburn Square and their decision to close these facilities was around the same time of the hotel opening which is now where people can go.

We did look into building our own in the cafe but after the plans were drawn up and the architect looked over things it was going to be at a cost of almost £12,000 which was just not a viable option for us.

I apologise we can not accommodate people with these facilities and yes it is not ideal that you have to either use the hotel or bus station facilities but this is something completely out of our control.

It would never be our practice to stop people using facilities or making them buy to use if we had them and we did try to take control of the downstairs once but this never came to fruition

Thank you for your understanding and hope this helps.
Cheers Marty
