From when we made the sad decision on the 3rd June -
Well, that time has finally come, today (29th July) was our very last day of being open. There have been many questions, advice and comments given from everyone on how and why we could no longer continue. Changing the menu, putting prices up, shortening opening hours and given discounts. All this was never going to sustain the business long term. With inflation affecting everyone, costs keep rising. So, the end of an era has arrived.
It has taken a while for me to grasp what I had created within Fenwicks. It was not just another café to get your coffee and scone from, although we were really awesome at that! It was a place to meet, to catch up with a friend, to have lunch with the family, a business meeting and even the odd secret romance. Some travelled from out with the area regularly to meet friends/relatives or just have a day out. Many tourists from even further places and that was a joy to hear their travels. We were a true part of the community and from your comments I now know how much we will be missed. The atmosphere that was created within Fenwicks was part of everyone. Always remember the laughs.
I want to thank all the staff past and present for being a part of the team and sharing my journey with me. I have watched you all arrive and have many memories of and so many good times and that’s not just on our legendary staff nights out. Then watching you all leave for new opportunities. Thank you, it was a real pleasure to work alongside you all.

To the suppliers and business owners who took the time to visit us and those that showed their support in the remaining weeks and shared their views on business I thank you, my thoughts are with you all.
To my family near and far, without your love, support and encouragement it would not have been the same.
And finally, to you the customers, without you Fenwicks would still be a dream. You made it my reality and I have enjoyed every minute of it and I will keep the memories with me. The overwhelming support from customers has been truly heartfelt and sincerely appreciated. The many friendships that were made among the staff and through the customers will always be cherished. Keep laughing. I look forward to meeting you again one day in pastures new.
