TANK ROOM SHOWCASE - Saturday 17th October

Visit the unique and historic Tank Room here at the White Hart Hotel from 10am-12pm and hear all about its exciting and interesting history from our resident expert, Andrew Blow from Blow by Blow Productions.

The Tank Room is one of the White Hart’s jewels in the crown. It was in this very room in 1915 that the modern-day tank was conceived of. A series of meetings were held in the summer of 1915 between William Ashbee Tritton, Managing Director of William Foster, a Lincoln engineering firm; his chief draughtsman William Rigby and W. G. Wilson, a Naval Officer. From these gatherings, emerged the designs for what was to become known as the ‘Tank’ and several hundred were subsequently built in Lincoln.

In order that we can share more insight into these historic meetings and their subsequent impact on the First World War, we are delighted to have partnered with local heritage expert Andrew Blow. It’s free to attend and no booking necessary simply come to reception.

These days the Tank Room can be booked for private meetings, small gatherings and private dining so it’s a great chance to view the space and plan for future event hire.

🎷 Freewheeling Jazz presents the Josh Bailey Trio 🎹

Join us on 10th November for an evening of live jazz in our stunning Royal Courtyard as 18-year-old pianist Josh Bailey brings his acclaimed trio to Lincoln, alongside Casper Hamilton on bass and Dom Holyoake on drums.

Already known as the “Birmingham Wonderkid”, Josh is making waves on the West Midlands jazz scene with his fresh compositions, inventive improvisation and influences ranging from Keith Jarrett to Shai Maestro.

Such an amazing morning hosting the Ladies Who Brunch event on behalf of St Barnabas Hospice. Boutiques, botanicals and brunch - what more could you want?!

There was a fashion show by OSKA United Kingdom on Bailgate and we have round 2 tomorrow with the Ladies Who Lunch event with guest speaker Imp and Maker and one of our resident musicians Nathan Berger providing the entertainment. What’s more, the organisers have already booked again for 2027!

What an amazing experience welcoming all of the classic cars taking part in the Loxley 500 event into Castle Square this afternoon! Were you there? Which was your favourite?

This classic vehicle tour started at our sister hotel in Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, stopping here in Lincoln and then the tour carries on tomorrow all the way down to Mullion in Cornwall finishing at our other sister hotel .
