You will find Pimento Tearooms half way along Lincoln’s famous Steep Hill. Access to the Tearooms is through the double-fronted Mercury Shoes & Pimento Fashions. Seating is available on two floors, the Parlour overlooking Steep Hill. We have a varied range of specialty teas and coffees available and a vegetarian and vegan menu including daily specials that will appeal to everyone. Hot food can be ordered till 4:30pm. The Tearooms can be booked for private functions.

Our Story

Pimento is bursting with character and is a hodge-potch of parts built over centuries. If you look at the left hand-side of the front of the building you will spot a column of stones which are part of the Western Carriage Way of the Roman Upper South Gate dating back 2000 years. The Sitting Room is built on top of the Roman Wall running out from the South Gate and has one wall made of stone probably dating back to the 18th century as does the Study downstairs . The Parlour has a beautiful Oriel window dating back to the 18th Century and is a favourite place of many to sit and enjoy the view up and down Steep Hill itself. When you sit at a garden table you can really study the eclectic mix of all the different parts of not just Pimento but the other surrounding buildings trying to guess which sections were built first and how old they are.

Pimento is one of the longest running tea rooms in Lincoln, dating back over 30 years and has been known as Pimento for the last 27. It can be found nestled amongst the other traditional shops on the famous cobbled Steep Hill, which runs down from the Cathedral Quarter of the City of Lincoln.

Seating for 60 is available in 5 characterful rooms, over 4 floors. Why not come and choose your favourite. We can also offer an outside seating area where you are surrounded by lush planting, including herbs used in our kitchen.

Pimento specialise in vegetarian and vegan food offering breakfast, lunch, light bites, coffee & tea as well as snacks, tasty nibbles and of course cake - lots of tempting sweet goodies. We also cater for gluten-free, lacto-free and can accommodate other food intolerances. There is a range of speciality teas and coffees as well as cappuccino, latte, espresso and of course luscious hot chocolate. A variety of cold drinks including fruit juices and craft soft drinks are also offered.
