The Forbidden Corner is a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises created in a four acre garden in the heart of Tupgill Park and the Yorkshire Dales. The temple of the underworld, the eye of the needle, a huge pyramid made of translucent glass, paths and passages that lead nowhere, extraordinary statues - at every turn there are decisions to make and tricks to avoid. This is a day out with a difference which will challenge and delight adults and children of all ages.

TRAVEL UPDATE – MIDDLEHAM BRIDGE CLOSED

Please be aware that Middleham Bridge is currently closed after being struck by a lorry. The closure may remain in place for some time while the damage is assessed and repairs are carried out.

The Forbidden Corner is OPEN as usual and remains fully accessible.

For the easiest route to us, we recommend approaching from the A1 via Ripon and Masham, continuing on towards Middleham and The Forbidden Corner.

If travelling from the Leyburn side, you will NOT be able to cross Middleham Bridge, so please plan an alternative route and allow some extra time for your journey.

We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as we receive further information about the bridge reopening.

We’re open as normal and look forward to seeing you!

🚴‍♂️ Heads up, North Yorkshire! The Lloyds Tour of Britain is racing through on Saturday, 5 September, bringing temporary road closures to the area.

If you're travelling to visit us, please plan ahead for these afternoon closures:

Newton le Willows: 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Spennithorne & Harmby: 2:15 PM – 3:45 PM
Leyburn (Middleham Rd to Brentwood): 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Leyburn (Commercial Square & A684 Wensley to Grove Sq): 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM (Fixed closures)
Leyburn (Railway Street): 5:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Signed diversion routes will be in place around Leyburn, and extra visitor parking is available at the Wensleydale Show parking field, Wensleydale Rugby Club, and near Tennants.

We had a rare Humming Moth spotted in the Gardens!

Tony and Barbara Knowles spotted this beautiful creature on the 23rd of August and kindly sent us this picture they captured so we could share it with you.

Did you know:
🔹They can fly backwards and hover freely in mid-air!
🔹Unlike most moths, they are diurnal (active during the day).
🔹They have a highly unusual ability to continue flying and feeding even in the rain.
🔹They flap their wings up to 80 beats per second, producing the distinct, audible "humming" noise that gives them their name.

Our team member, Imogen, is taking on the Great North Run again this September, making this year's race especially memorable as it falls on her birthday.
She is raising funds for Racing Welfare, a charity doing incredible work to support people across the horse racing industry, including current staff, the wider community, and retired members.
