It’s been a poignant few days here at The Swan Inn, and we want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible community for your immense warmth, kind words, and understanding. 🤍

Today from 12:00 – 15:00, the Southdowns Pantry kitchen is open and serving our comforting, traditional Homemade Sunday Roasts. 🥕🥩 Whether you're returning from a quiet morning walk on the South Downs or gathering the family close, there is a warm welcome and a hearty plate waiting for you.

Nothing says home quite like a classic dessert. Today we are serving up our irresistible Homemade Rhubarb and Apple Crumble (£7.25), complete with a generous pour of warm, velvety custard. A Message from the Landlord and Southdowns Pantry Kitchen Team: Remembering Nigel Midhurst

It is with a heavy heart that we share some temporary changes to our opening hours for tomorrow, Friday 29th May 2026.

On this day, the team and family will be coming together to celebrate the life of our dearest friend, Nigel Midhurst.

Nigel was a fundamental character who helped shape The Swan into the pub it is today. His warm, welcoming aura will be sorely missed by staff and regulars alike, and he leaves behind a legacy of genuine joy and love brought to all who knew him.

To allow our team to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life, our opening hours tomorrow will be as follows:

Friday 29th May: The pub will open at 3:00pm for drinks only. The kitchen will be closed all day.

Saturday 30th May: Normal bar hours resume. Kitchen open 12:00pm – 3:00pm for our weekend menu.

Sunday 31st May: Normal bar hours resume. Kitchen open 12:00pm – 3:00pm for Traditional Homemade Roasts.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience these adjusted Friday hours may cause, and we thank you deeply for your understanding.

Tomorrow evening, and across the entire weekend, we will be raising a glass to you, Nigel. Rest in peace, dear friend. 🍺✨

Sundays at the Southdowns Pantry are for two things: a legendary Homemade Roast and an "old school" dessert that takes you right back to the classics.

Our Traditional Strawberry Trifle Sundae is looking like a total star this week—layers of sponge, strawberries, and jelly, topped with custard and whipped cream. The perfect reward after a Sunday stroll!
