We are a wine bar, but we love food. And we really love our tarts!

Our tart base stays the same — straight from the River Café Blue Book. Delicious, reliable.

The change comes with the seasons, and whatever beautiful fruit is around.
This week, it is peaches. 🍑

Sweet, juicy, golden peaches, baked into our tart and perfect with a morning coffee for a treat breakfast, or a glass of wine in the afternoon ✨✨

Meet Jess, our amazing manager!

Jess moved down from London over a year ago to join our team and has brought an enormous amount to No34. Passionate, committed, and seriously switched-on about what hospitality actually means.

Ask her to recommend a glass and you’re in safe hands — she’s always got something new to point you towards. Her current personal favourite from our pours by the glass is the Brücke, a wonderful organic Austrian Grüner Veltliner from Martin and Anna Arndorfer.

We love our zinc bar. It was a last minute change. We were planning slate but then sitting at the zinc bar at the wonderful Restaurant Sune Broadway Market in London. we fell in love! It could have been all the delicious natural wine… by the end of the evening they had kindly put us onto Zinc Interior LDN Limited who then came down to Lewes and crafted ours. We love it.

A bar is perfect for two, ideal solo.
All the action, none of the work. Some nights it’s rammed, some nights empty — meet people, do your own thing, or grab a glass while you wait for a table.

Small plate love 💕 Just perfect for summer - sharing and sampling a few cold glasses.

This week we have -

Labneh is back! This dish is proving popular — rightly so - and so it’s making an appearance for another week. Courgettes poached in olive oil, dressed with mint and chilli. Good with a glass of chilled Brücke.

Crab is back too. Little gem, toast.

Our carefully sourced Charcuterie isn’t going anywhere!

And our Laines Organic Farm salad is just delicious. Great as a sharing plate or a side.

Caz is undoubtedly a genius with her flowers. Ours always look so bright and cheery. Helped it might be added by the punchy aircon. Now aircon may not be the most enticing of subjects. But. Given the outside temperature it might worth reminding you ours is refreshingly efficient, quiet and well behaved. Come and literally chill with a glass of something cool. Or even a cup of tea.

Florence is not an easy city for those in search of authentic Italian food. del Vino is soar and away the best thing we found amongst the Rothkos. What an amazing city. Most of the all-natural list unknown to us and plates of refreshing simplicity. Bread, butter and anchovies alongside tripe salad. We visited on the first day. Went back and it will be our first stop next time.

Florence is not an easy city for those in search of authentic Italian food. Casa Del Vino is soar and away the best thing we found amongst the Rothkos. What an amazing city. Most of the all-natural list unknown to us and plates of refreshing simplicity. Bread, butter and anchovies alongside tripe salad. We visited on the first day. Went back and it will be our first stop next time.
