THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE screens at Depot on Wednesday 17 June, 20:30 - not many tickets remain for this screening, so book ahead to avoid disappointment!

Depot’s Cinelogue strand presents The Spirit of the Beehive (1973). Víctor Erice’s haunting film is a memorable portrait of childhood and the power of cinema, whose influence continues to be felt.

In a small Castilian village in 1940, in the wake of Spain’s devastating civil war, six-year-old Ana attends a traveling movie show of Frankenstein and becomes possessed by the memory of it.

'The Spirit of the Beehive is a seminal movie for me […] along with the films of Buñuel and the films of Hitchcock, is almost a part of my genetic makeup, buried deep in my DNA’ - Guillermo del Toro
