The Vikings have landed! ⚔

It's not everyday that we have a Viking encampment and Longboat parked outside our little cafe! We're also loving our new best friend Maisie who's keeping guard over us today. 🐾

After chatting with the Viking reenactors this morning, we've been amazed by their knowledge of authentic Viking life. We even managed to catch an archery display and learned plenty along the way. If you're heading down this weekend, you're in for a fascinating day of history, adventure and fun!

The event is running from 10am-4pm today and tomorrow and we'll be open from 9am-7pm for the usual coffee fix, or even a b**r for a good Norse toast at the end of the day! 🍻

Don't miss this amazing new FREE event coming to Pennington Flash next week for the Saturday and Sunday of Bank Holiday weekend. Here's our resident Viking Joe to explain what it's all about, straight from the Norse's mouth. 😆

Live combat displays, archery displays, viking village, crafts, longboat sailings, and a "mini vike" tournament for kids. 29th & 30th August 10am-4pm each day.

Storytime tomorrow at 12noon, 1pm and 2pm 📖🥰🐦

Jennifer Doyle the author behind the characters in our Billy the Blackbird Trail will be paying us a visit for a special story time full of the magic of nature.

She'll be just by the playground so look out for her banner! 👀 It's completely free and there's no need to book, so grab your picnic blanket and just drop by..... it's the perfect excuse to grab a coffee while the kids are entertained!

Hopefully we'll see lots of you there!

A brand new event for 2026, get ready for live viking re-enactors, combat demos, archery demonstrations, heritage crafts, market stalls and even the chance to see a longboat out on The Flash!

Something’s brewing at The Hide Coffee House! ☕✨

We’re so excited to announce that work will start on our new café extension this autumn. Keep following us on socials to get a sneak peak of the plans to improve the café you know and love.... we promise it will be worth the wait!

Work is due to start early September but don’t worry, we will remain open until mid-October and the visitors’ services desk will remain open throughout the redevelopment.
