Today we had the pleasure of visiting ward 27 (The teenage cancer unit) where Meg was treated from August 2018-May 2019 for stage 4 non Hodgkin lymphoma, and donated a THOR PBM machine, which is an infrared machine to aid children with mouth ulcers during chemotherapy which is one of the many adverse side effects.
We donated an outstanding £3500 which we raised in May 2024 when we both participated in a parachute jump. We partnered up with Gary Henry at Cosby golf club, and donated the full amount towards his captains charity, who this year, was ward 27, which was an absolute honour.
We were waiting for the opportunity for the money to go towards something useful for that specific ward and not the charity as a whole, as this ward saved my life and many others.
It was also a moment to reflect on the brave families we met along the way, and remember those we sadly lost, and thank the doctors and nurses on the ward for all of their hard work they continue to do. (We also treated the nurses to a box of Meg-a Cakes!)
It was even more special having my baby girl there with me, as I was told having children may not be possible.
Ward 27, thank you for my future, and all of the hard work you continue to do for so many families. If this machine helps one little boy or girl, then it will make us all so happy❤️
